It has always been a dream of mine to breed dogs.

 

I have had dogs all my life, getting my first dog from my dad when I was 4 years old. As a child I suffered from chronic pain and nightmares, and my dad thought having a dog by my side would help me face and cope with my emotional and behavioural challenges and life experiences. He was right.

 

Because of the role dogs have played in my life it has been my lifelong desire to help empower others, especially children and young people, to face and cope with their challenges and experiences by having a dog by their side. A dog that is not only a support, a rock, an anchor but most of all, a bestie. A dog that can make them feel good about themselves, as dogs did for me, when nothing else could. A dog that is always there, always loyal, always giving, always loving. Such a relationship has been an essential presence throughout my life and is what I to want to pass onto others.

 

And it is not only through guiding and supporting others to train their dogs to achieve this relationship but also by breeding my own dogs. Puppy development begins in the womb and through the critical first few weeks. Their brain and nervous system are always developing and is especially sensitive to the environmental conditions in which they find themselves. By being involved in this period of the puppy’s development allows me to more fully tend to, condition and shape the puppy, being always mindful, of course, not to over-train or interfere with the natural developmental processes and stages.

 

I work closely with owners from the very beginning. The owners choose their own puppy and together we work towards developing the puppy to become the dog they want. I want to coach owners to work with their puppy as a team so as the puppy becomes a dog with whom they will have a mutually trusting, mutually rewarding relationship. As the relationship you develop with your dog underpins all else in owning a dog and what ultimately brings you the love and joy you so desire in owning a dog.

 

It is thus by not only guiding and supporting owners but by being involved from the moment of inception and birth and through the first critical weeks of a puppy’s life I believe I can better support and guide owners to feel more fully empowered to eventually have the dogs, and that enriching relationship, they desire.
